Established in January 2015, the Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) is the professional association of the 11 newly-privatized electricity distribution companies in Nigeria. The mandate of the group is to engage with stakeholders in policy and regulatory matters; set industry standards; bring value to consumers; and conduct public education. With this award, the Association is educating the public, policymakers, and the media about standards, practices, and issues in the newly-privatized sector. It is also supporting existing rural electrification cooperatives. The award is expected to result in consumers who are more educated about their rights and avenues for redress, more informed media and public policy audiences, and more active rural electrification cooperatives.
