    WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (the Museum) is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African-American life, history, and culture. Established by an Act of Congress in 2003, and to date, with a collection of over 36,000 artifacts, the Museum is scheduled to open in September 2016 on the National Mall. The Museum seeks MacArthur support of $2 million for the capital campaign to support construction and the design and installation of permanent exhibits.
