Reproductive Health Matters (RHM) was established in 1992, as a peer reviewed, international journal to generate knowledge, disseminate in-depth analysis and evidence, and advocate for an environment in which universal sexual and reproductive health and rights are realized through evidence-based laws, policies, programs, and services.

The award enables RHM to publish the journal in English; publish translations in seven languages; expand access to evidence and research and amplify voices from the Global South; and, convene stakeholders from diverse regions and disciplines in order to link research with policy and advocacy, identify knowledge gaps, and explore emerging issues from a range of perspectives.
