    LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — This three-year grant of $300,000 to Media Legal Defense Initiative (MLDI), a media rights non-profit based in London with extensive experience in delivering legal services, will support a project entitled ‘Legal Defense of Independent Media, Journalists, and Bloggers in Russia.’ The project will enhance the Foundation’s strategy to protect freedom of expression, providing legal representation to journalists and media outlets. Outcomes will include the strengthening of freedom of expression, thereby ensuring the media’s ability to report on matters of public interest, without undue hindrance of abusive law suits. Foundation dollars will primarily fund project staff and lawyers contracted for selected cases.
