$575,000

The Leadership Conference Education Fund was founded in 1969 as the education and research arm of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the nation’s oldest and largest civil and human rights coalition of more than 230 national organizations. The Leadership Conference Education Fund’s Justice Program seeks to create a system that is fair and equitable, respects the humanity of all people, generates meaningful pathways to redemption and rehabilitation, and uses jail and prison as a tool of last resort. As a major stakeholder at the center of a broad and diverse coalition, the Justice Program takes a combined bottom-up/top-down approach to transform the system that addresses structural inequality, racism, and injustice at every stage—from policing and pretrial detention, sentencing and incarceration, to re-entry. This award is in support of general operations to continue the Education Fund’s partnership with the Safety and Justice Challenge.
