The newly-created Cook County Land Bank Authority will be an important new tool for the City of Chicago and other suburban municipalities in the continuing struggle to address the negative effects of vacant and foreclosed buildings. By removing barriers to the successful redevelopment of properties and by helping municipalities acquire and hold properties as part of a re-development strategy, the Land Bank will play a critical role in the reclaiming of vacant and abandoned properties, developing of interim land use strategies and facilitating private and public investment. This grant supports the hiring of an Executive Director for the newly-created Authority.
