Agir Ensemble pour les Droits de l’Homme (Agir) is a France-based organization that works with local and grassroots groups worldwide, especially in Francophone countries, to promote and defend human rights. Agir seeks support for a project to ensure victim participation in the prosecution of former Chadian dictator Hissène Habré. Grant money will be used for staff salaries, legal fees, travel for victims and witnesses from Chad, and the publication of a book. The proposed grant furthers the Human Rights Program’s aim of supporting efforts to use national laws and legal systems for the prosecution of atrocity crimes. The grant will also advance our emphasis on supporting the growth of African institutions of accountability.
