Chicago Council on Science and Technology

Chicago, Illinois

Grants

2015 (2 years)
$75,000

The Chicago Council on Science and Technology (the Council) was formed in 2006 as regional consortium for science and technology education through a partnership of 21 organizations, including Argonne National Laboratory, Exelon, Abbott Laboratories, the Chicago Community Trust, Northwestern University, and the Museum of Science and Industry. This grant supports the Council’s general operations during a wind-down of MacArthur’s support, which began as part of the Foundation’s "Science Chicago" initiative. Over the coming two years, the Council will convene leaders from Chicago’s universities, corporations, government, museums, and national laboratories to discuss science and the public interest, and to pursue a range of activities intended to strengthen Chicago’s science and technology sector. It will also transition away from dependence on foundation support by broadening its base of member and corporate funding.
