Centro de Derechos Humanos Fray Matías de Córdova (Fray Matías Human Rights Center) will produce a report based on the documentation of cases of abuse and discriminatory practices against migrants in the south of Chiapas, Mexico. Recommendations to avoid such practices and improve Mexico’s treatment of the migrant population will be presented to the media, government agencies, and civil society organizations.

2012 (1 year 7 months)
$75,000

Centro de Derechos Humanos Fray Matías de Córdova (Fray Matías Human Rights Center) will improve access to justice and services for the migrant population in the southern border region of Chiapas through case documentation, legal assistance, strategic litigation, and advocacy efforts with local authorities. Through case follow-up, this project will also advance implementation of Mexico’s new Migration Law. The grant fits with the Foundation’s Regional Migration Corridor Initiative’s strategic focus on improving access to justice and services for migrants and their families.
