Fund for Public Schools

New York, New York

Grants

2013 (2 years)
$300,000

The Fund for Public Schools works to attract private investment in school reform in New York City and to encourage citizens’ greater involvement in the City’s public education. Building on the successful implementation in 2012 of NYC Summer Quest--a three-year project of the Fund, the New York City Department of Education, and the New York Department of Youth and Community Development--this grant provides continued support for 11 City schools to partner with community-based organizations to develop and carry out summer learning programs, and introduce pedagogical innovations, based on the principles of Connected Learning, into the City’s public school system.

2012 (1 year)
$200,000

This grant funds The Summer Learning Initiative--a pilot project of the Fund for Public Schools, the New York City Department of Education, and the New York Department of Youth and Community Development--that will connect New York City schools with community-based organizations to develop innovative summer learning programs as a means to reduce summer learning loss and to create a mechanism for bringing innovations in teaching and learning from the Hive New York learning network into New York City public schools.
