$100,000

Established in 2006 in New Delhi, India, the Centre for Health and Social Justice (CHSJ) seeks to promote gender quality, human rights, and social justice in the health field. This award provides final support for a project that advances the use of accountability mechanisms for improving the delivery of maternal health services. It enables CHSJ to sustain and build on the gains of a pilot by developing a civil society network operating in all 22 districts of Madhya Pradesh, and improving its capacity to address the issue of accountability for maternal health. The project generates and disseminates accountability tools and reports on the impacts of this intervention, thereby contributing to the practice of social accountability in maternal health in one state, as well as advancing knowledge in this domain.
