$500,000

Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) is a nonprofit real estate developer that owns and operates more than 12,000 affordable homes in eleven states. While POAH’s primary mission is to preserve, create, and sustain affordable housing, the organization is executing its first comprehensive community revitalization approach in Chicago. In collaboration with local partners and residents, POAH contributes to the broader rebuilding of the Woodlawn community and has recently expanded its network to include the Garfield Park neighborhood. It restores commercial corridors, builds and/or rehabilitates housing, and offers a range of services to improve the quality of life in Woodlawn. This award provides renewed support to POAH for its work engaging residents in the design and implementation of neighborhood revitalization projects, preparing residents for employment, and facilitating resident access to resources and services.
