The Institute for Public Health and Justice was established in 2011 as a part of the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center as a permanent, non-governmental entity to secure and sustain the state’s progress in juvenile justice system reform. This grant will support the Institute to complete its work as the Louisiana Models for Change lead entity and further develop its capacity to advance juvenile justice reform in the future.

The Institute for Public Health and Justice - established as a part of the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center - was created with Foundation support as a permanent, non-governmental entity seeking to secure and sustain the progress in juvenile justice system reform achieved by Louisiana Models for Change. Since 2006, the Institute’s director has been the project director for that effort, responsible for the continued implementation of the strategic work plan that guides reform efforts. The Institute will use this grant to continue its work as the state’s lead entity and to establish a stable, secure foundation for continued reform.

In support of activities as the lead entity for Louisiana Models for Change (over three years).

In support of the training and delivery of community evidence-based practices to identify and treat youth with mental health and substance abuse conditions who come into contact with the juvenile justice system (over three years).
