The Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (PAI) is a global multi-stakeholder nonprofit that brings together more than 100 partner organizations from across industry, civil society, and academia to explore and help address the social implications of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Through its work, PAI establishes a common ground between entities which otherwise may not have cause to work together. The organization’s activities are situated across five programs where its partners collaborate including: Safety-Critical AI; Fair, Transparent, and Accountable AI; AI, Labor, and the Economy; Inclusive Research and Design; and AI and Media Integrity. Through each program PAI identifies emerging trends that require collective action, convenes workshops, produces research, advances best practices within the AI field, informs public policy, and creates greater public understanding about the impacts of AI. The award provides general operating support to the organization.

Through each of these pillars PAI convenes workshops, produces research, works to advance best practices, and seeks to create greater public understanding about the impacts of AI. The award provides general operating support to the organization.

The Partnership on Artificial Intelligence is a multi-stakeholder initiative spanning the private sector, civil society and academia that studies and formulates best practices on artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, advances the public’s understanding of AI and serves as an open platform for discussion and engagement about AI and its influences on people and society. The award supports an event focused on ethics and AI at the 2019 Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems in Vancouver, Canada, December 8th – 14th.
