American Association for the Advancement of Science’s (AAAS) mission is to advance science, engineering, and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all people. This renewal grant to the AAAS Center for Science and Technology Policy supports a series of ongoing and new activities aimed at strengthening scientific capacity to advise policymakers, in the context of the Foundation’s Security Policy Initiative (STS). STS was launched to develop and maintain a cadre of scientists and other technical experts able to provide independent, authoritative advice on international security policy issues. The Center serves an important function in the Initiative by engaging policymakers, grantees and the broader scientific community in a public discussion of security policy issues.
