Nationwide, states and their localities are facing mounting fiscal challenges. In 2011 former New York Lieutenant Governor, Richard Ravitch and former Federal Reserve Board Chair, Paul A. Volcker assembled the State Budget Crisis Task Force to examine threats to U.S. states' near and long term fiscal sustainability. On October 24, the Task Force will be releasing its findings on the specific threats confronting the state of Illinois.
