Dr. Funmi Olopade, 2005 MacArthur Fellow, oncologist and genetics expert, is one of the world's leading authorities on hereditary breast cancer and cancer risk assessment. As an international leader in breast cancer research, Dr. Olopade continues to help scientists and the public gain a greater understanding of the disease. An expert on individualized treatment for breast cancer, she has a special interest in women of African descent, who are at higher risk for more aggressive cancers and at a younger age.

Dr. Olopade, a University of Chicago professor, appears in conversation with Dr. Mary Ann Malloy, noted area physician, journalist, and NBC5 health reporter. MacArthur President Bob Gallucci will make introductory remarks.

The MacArthur Fellows Science Series is presented in partnership with Science Chicago: Life's A Lab. This program is free and the public is welcome.
