MacArthur Advisory Services

The Foundation is pleased to introduce MacArthur Advisory Services.  Through this initiative, MacArthur staff will provide advice to other foundations, corporate donors and individual donors who wish to make gifts in fields in which we work.  Staff are experienced in making grants around the world and can help identify effective organizations which can make good use of additional grants as well as provide guidance on the legal and financial aspects of international grantmaking.

MacArthur currently supports 884 organizations in Chicago, across the U.S., and around the world.  And we know of many more which could benefit from private philanthropy.  The list of fields and places where we work follows this message.

MacArthur also has extensive contacts and networks that can augment and complement the internal resources that MacArthur has available.  Through these contacts and relationships, the Foundation believes it can assist donors by identifying additional financial, technical, and other consulting resources.

MacArthur Advisory Services will be under the leadership of Joshua Mintz, Vice President and General Counsel of the MacArthur Foundation, who will coordinate with other members of our staff to provide an appropriate response to inquiries.

The Foundation is excited about the possibilities of this new initiative and the benefits it may provide others.  Staff have historically provided assistance on an informal basis to grantees and other donors on a variety of matters.  The Foundation believes that by making these resources available in a more focused manner it can more effectively leverage philanthropic resources.

For further information regarding how the MacArthur Foundation might be of assistance and the guidelines regarding assistance, please email Joshua Mintz or call (312) 920-6250.  In the meantime, the Foundation will be developing a series of links to other sources of information that you will be able to find from our website.

Please understand that this resource is not intended to be a venue to secure grants from the MacArthur Foundation.  Entities or persons interested in obtaining funding should review the applicable Foundation guidelines and submit a proposal in accordance with the instructions on the website.
