Nigeria-electricity-200

A report by the MacArthur-supported Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project shows that Nigeria has lost more than N11 trillion Naira to corruption in the electricity sector since the country returned to democracy in 1999. The report cites lack of effective monitoring and supervision, the model of electricity governance in Nigeria, and corrupt dispositions of sector officials as key contributors to corruption and impunity in the sector, and warns that the country may lose another N20 trillion in the next decade if remedial actions are not taken.
