From time to time, the Foundation convenes experts to learn more about a particular field of work or issue that might be of relevance to current or potential future grantmaking. Holding a consultation does not necessarily mean MacArthur will make related grants. To facilitate candid input from meeting participants, the Foundation will generally advise those attending a consultation that the substance of discussions and related private information will be kept confidential. MacArthur also values transparency and seeks to share knowledge it receives. When it is able, consistent with the understanding of participants, the Foundation will post non-confidential information regarding a consultation.
