In this project, SAHAJ is building on the achievements of a previous MacArthur-supported project to strengthen accountability mechanisms for maternal health in Gujarat. SAHAJ is working within the accountability framework of the government’s health program to enable and equip communities with the skills to monitor access to and the quality of maternal health.  The lessons from the project are being used to advocate for better access to and improvements in the quality of maternal services available, especially in the public health system.
