ALKAPURI, INDIA — SAHAJ - Society for Health Alternatives will implement a project in two districts in the state of Gujarat to strengthen accountability mechanisms for maternal health. SAHAJ will work within the accountability framework of the government's health program to enable and equip communities with the skills to monitor access to and the quality of maternal health. The lessons from the project will be used to advocate for better access to and improvements in the quality of maternal services available, especially in the public health system.
The MacArthur Foundation awarded SAHAJ-Society for Health Alternatives $165,000 between 2010 and 2013.
