Juvenile Justice
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — The nonprofit Youth Outreach Services (YOS) provides Chicago-area youth with counseling, transitional housing, and workforce development training to help them make a successful transition to adulthood. It is working with three Illinois Models for Change demonstration sites--Peoria, DuPage, and Cook counties--to develop an innovative program to improve the juvenile justice system's response to adolescent domestic battery by reducing detention among youth involved in family conflict. This grant will enable YOS to evaluate the program and develop a program description and resource materials across the sites.
The MacArthur Foundation awarded Youth Outreach Services $120,000 between 2010 and 2013.
