Grants

2017 (1 year 6 months)
$153,000

Based in Washington, D.C., The White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) is a maternal health advocacy organization with national alliances in 14 countries. With support from the Foundation, the organization is providing technical assistance to Mexican organizations and to representatives of the public health sector in support of their advocacy campaigns and initiatives to strengthen professional midwifery. WRA is engaging civil society organizations and the Mexican health sector more fully in the global efforts to promote midwifery as a strategy for improving maternal and reproductive health. Information about global best practices and experiences allows national and sub-national strategies to incorporate them, increasing their chances of success. Increased attention at the global level to Mexico’s efforts increases the potential for the continuation of this work beyond MacArthur’s funding period.
