    CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — This grant provides renewed multi-year general operating support to Victory Gardens Theater, which is nationally recognized for its commitment to the development of contemporary American plays and playwrights. Since its founding in 1974, the company has produced 288 plays, including 169 world premiere productions and more than 150 plays written by Chicago authors. In 2001, Victory Gardens received a Regional Theater Tony Award. It employs 300 artists and hosts audiences of 60,000 each year in its performances, community and educational programming.

The MacArthur Foundation awarded Victory Gardens Theater $157,500 between 2010 and 2013.
