Grants

2015 (2 years)
$50,000

The Ruth Page Foundation operates the Ruth Page Center for the Arts which provides rehearsal and performance space, training, and support for developing dance artists and organizations. Annually it serves 40,000 children and adults. This funding supports the Center's exchange with Cuba's Escuela Nacional de Ballet and a Cuban pianist and composer to collaborate on a new choreographed dance piece and accompanying music to be performed in Havana and Chicago. The exchange will introduce each participant to a new method and style of art, and provide Cuban and American audiences with the opportunity to see cross-cultural collaborative choreography. This grant funds direct project expenses: travel accommodations, artist fees, marketing, and venue rental. It is recommended as part of the International Connections Fund.
