Schools & Teachers Innovating for Results

London, United Kingdom

Grants

2015 (2 years)
$500,000

Schools & Teachers Innovating for Results (STIR), a UK-based NGO, works to improve education quality for disadvantaged children in developing countries. It does this through a platform to identify, test, and scale promising ‘micro-innovations’ that improve teaching and learning outcomes. Over the next two years STIR will expand their Teacher Changemaker networks in New Delhi, in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning in government schools. This project is implemented in partnership with other non-government organizations (NGO) and the government of New Delhi. The project will be evaluated at the level of the teacher to assess changes in their motivation and the quality of classroom transactions and at the level of the student to assess the impact on learning outcomes.

2013 (2 years)
$500,000

Schools and Teachers Innovating for Results (STIR) will implement a project to identify, test, and scale promising ‘micro-innovations’ that improve teaching and learning outcomes. STIR will adapt the model that it has previously piloted in primary schools at the secondary level with a particular focus on micro-innovations that benefit girls. The project will be implemented in partnership with other NGOs and the government in Delhi and four states. Successful innovations will be scaled within groups of schools through networks of teachers who are supported by STIR. The project will be evaluated for its impact on the quality of teaching and on students’ learning outcomes.
