Corporación de Gestión y Derecho Ambiental (Ecolex) is the premier Ecuadorian environmental law and policy organization, which is dedicated to providing access to environmental legal services for communities and supporting enforcement of existing environmental laws. This grant supports the completion of key ongoing activities by Ecolex in the Mira River Basin, including strengthening the capacity of regional planning boards, water associations, and parish governments. Ecolex is also advancing four conservation incentive agreements in the upper and middle regions of the river basin and expanding services under the Green Hotline, which provides access to free environmental legal services for communities in the region. In this work, Ecolex partners with Altropico, WWF, and the environmental research and governance coalition led by Yachay Tech University.

The Corporacion Gestion Ambiental y Derecho (Ecolex) is an Ecuadorian law and policy organization dedicated to ensuring compliance of existing legislation and regulations to protect environmental and human rights. The purpose of this grant is to promote rights-based conservation to residents and advance municipal governance of natural resources in five municipalities in the Northern Ecuadorian Provinces of Imbabura and Carchi that control the headwaters of the bi-national Mira River basin.
