Betrayal of the American Dream is a documentary film about the root causes of America’s widening income gap and the shrinking middle class. It will draw from Betrayal of the American Dream (2012) by Pulitzer-prize winning journalists Donald L. Bartlett and James B. Steele and Winner-Take-All Politics (2010) by Professors Jacob Hacker and Paul Pierson, and present personal stories of individuals and families at both extremes of the income scale. These stories will help to explain America’s growing income inequality, the role of government policies in fueling that gap, and point to possible remedies. It will be produced by Barbara Kopple and Cabin Creek Center.
