Vermont Energy Investment Corporation
Grants to Vermont Energy Investment Corporation
2012 (Duration 2 years)
BURLINGTON, VERMONT — The Vermont Energy Investment Corporation is dedicated to reducing the economic and environmental costs of energy consumption through cost-effective energy efficiency and renewable technologies. Energy service companies, as privately held or investor-owned businesses, focus their activity on large projects with high returns on invested capital. This model leaves many buildings on the sidelines, especially those located in low- or moderate-income communities, such as affordable rental housing. The Corporation will use this grant to create a new energy service company business model that yields greater customer financial savings, substantially reduced energy use, and dramatically lower carbon emissions.
The MacArthur Foundation awarded Vermont Energy Investment Corporation $400,000 between 2003 and 2013.
