Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas (“University of Zacatecas”) will study the characteristics of the recent increase in the return of migrants to Mexico, particularly to three states with high migration rates: Michoacán, Oaxaca and Zacatecas. The study will provide new knowledge to the field and will support the design of a “Program for the Integration of Returned Migrants”. The Program will be implemented in one of the target states in collaboration with migrant organizations and government officials and could ultimately serve as a model for similar programs across Mexico. The grant fits within the Foundation’s Regional Migration Corridor Initiative’s strategic focus on improving access to services for migrants and their families.
