Established in 1986 in a tribal district of Gujarat, India, Society for Education Welfare and Action Rural (SEW A Rural) is a non-profit organization that seeks to improve the well-being of vulnerable populations with health and development programs. The award to SEW A Rural supports an intervention-research project that deploys internet and mobile phone solutions to improve the coverage and quality of maternal health interventions through village-level health workers in tribal and rural areas in the state of Gujarat. The maternal and neonatal health outcomes from intervention areas are being compared using baseline and endline data with outcomes from control areas. The Indian Council of Medical Research co-funds this project.
