It has a collection of 1.5 million books, 5 million manuscript pages, and 500,000 historic maps making it one of the largest and most important libraries of its type in the United States. It is particularly well-known for its Native American and genealogical materials. It offers exhibits based on its collections, musical and theatrical performances, lectures and discussions, a program for undergraduate students, and professional development for teachers. This grant will support general operations including: exhibitions, education programs, and initiatives that will strengthen the collection.
