MacArthur Discussion Series Reducing Maternal Mortality

October 1, 2008 | 4 PM

More than half a million women die each year due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth. Most of these deaths could be prevented with appropriate health services and care. The MacArthur Foundation is committed to reducing maternal mortality, investing $11 million to expand the use of an innovative new tool — the anti-shock garment — along with other simple technologies.

Please join us for a presentation and informal discussion on efforts to reduce maternal mortality. In honor of Science Chicago, the world's largest science celebration, the next several events in the MacArthur discussion series will be dedicated to scientific topics.

If you or others from your organization are interested in attending the October 1st event, please let us know by Thursday, September 25, either by calling Steve Richards at (312) 516-1610 or by sending an e-mail to [email protected] to confirm your attendance.
