Screening: An Evening of Film for Reproductive Rights

April 21, 2010 | 6 PM - 8 PM

Join MacArthur grantees Ipas and Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL) for an evening of film for reproductive rights. The evening includes a screening of Not Yet Rain, a short film by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Lisa Russell that explores abortion in Ethiopia through the voices of women who have faced the challenge of finding safe care. The short film was produced in association with Ipas.

The evening also features a preview of an upcoming documentary by Kartemquin Films' Peter Gilbert, produced in association with PPIL, focusing on clinic escorts who literally guard the way for women seeking health care here in Illinois.

After the screenings, Population and Reproductive Health Director Judith Helzner will moderate a discussion with the filmmakers and Dr. Melissa Gilliam, Associate Professor of Obstetrics/Gynecology and Pediatrics and Chief of the Section of Family Planning at the University of Chicago.

Free admission. RSVP by April 14th to [email protected] or (312) 592-6851.
